Check-out this editorial from today’s Lansing State Journal that says our city’s problems stem from “nay-saying” by four City Council members, Eric Hewitt, Brian Jeffries, Derrick Quinney and Carol Wood.
The newspaper claims that the four have blocked development projects dead in their tracks for their own selfish interests. They point to the land swap between Davenport College and the city. They accuse the four of killing the project.
Did they talk to any of the four to get their response to the charge? I don’t see any evidence that they made any attempt to present both sides of this debate. Useful editorials need to educate readers with both sides and then draw conclusions. Otherwise, it’s unsubstantiated prejudice.
Are these four members villains on the council or are they the heroes?
During meetings on Comcast’s channel 12 they appear to be exercising their responsibility and their due diligence to protect their constituents. They ask questions. Is that a negative?
Is it a hindrance to development or is it an asset to good solid growth?
Does anybody else see this editorial as shallow and something more worthy of a high school newspaper written by somebody’s dad rather than a major metropolitan daily newspaper?

LSJ is becoming less than credable in reporting the whole story. They seem to report without all the facts or “the other side”. It is more about politics/lobbyist/people with personal gain.
