Will Lansing’s efforts to honor Cesar Chavez finally be realized?

by Wes Thorp on August 27, 2010

At its regular Monday night meeting, the Lansing City Council will hold a public hearing on a compromise that was reached to honor Cesar Chavez by renaming a street.

Will the agreement to give a portion of the street the honorary designation and to name a lot in Old Town be a sufficient honor to the farm labor leader who served as the fulcrum of change for those who worked in the fields?

Check the Lansing City Council info packet from page one to 28 for full details about the effort and about the compromise.
