Where in the Lansing-area do you buy your petunias, pansies and other plant materials?

It’s a ritual every spring for “super-wife” and I to buy the annual flowers to bring a little color to our southwest side home.  We usually go to Lansing Gardens on Jolly Road, a destination for many looking for plant materials.  PLEASE NOTE: Check  the photos of our Lansing Garden excursion in the multimediabox at the top right.

There are many places in the greater Lansing-area to buy your petunias, pansies, marigolds, and hanging baskets.  Prices seem to be pretty standard.  A couple of questions:

  • Where do you buy your spring planting materials?
  • What do you buy and how many?
  • Who has the highest quality and who has the best price?

I buy tons (and I mean TONS) of annuals from Smith Floral and Greenhouse. I plant the flowers in local cemeteries for my Memorial Minders clients. I buy geraniums by the boatload, marigolds, petunias, impatiens, dianthus, salvia, dusty miller, celosia, vinca, etc. I buy around 500 geraniums! I have always been extremely well pleased with quality, service and prices from Smith Floral.

Loretta-thanks for the tip. I will check them out. Flowers are a gift from God. Wes
