Lansing’s top school leader talking about four-day a week classes

Lansing’s public schools are struggling big time because of a severe shortage of state aid from the Michigan Legislature and is considering a full menu of options including cutting the school week to four days, according to Dr. T.C. Wallace, the superintendent of the Lansing School District.

He shared these concerns at the monthly meeting this week of the Colonial Village Neighborhood Association  at Grace United Methodist Church on Mt. Hope and Boston Boulevard.

The school district is facing a future of continued cuts affecting everything from services to students to classroom size.  Continued layoffs of teachers and administrators is feared reality.

In these Flip videos, Dr. Wallace talks about how the four-day class week would probably not be implemented in the next school year and about the size of the financial needs for the school district and how they will affect its ability to serve students.
