Lansing’s fire protection of the verge of becoming less

by Wes Thorp on April 15, 2010

If Lansing’s firefighters approve a new contract, the city would lose fire station #3 at 629 W. Hillsdale just southwest of the downtown area.  The closure according to WLNS.com would save the city $1 million in a budget that’s projected to have a $12 million deficit.

What effect will it have on the city’s response to fires in that area?

According to Fire Chief Tom Cochran, the response time wouldn’t be affected with the station at Shiawassee and Grand picking up the slack.

How many fire stations does a city the size of Lansing need to adequately cover residential areas and businesses?
