Is there a “Coffee Party Movement” event in Lansing this Saturday?

by Wes Thorp on March 11, 2010

Everybody’s heard of the “Tea Party” here in Lansing.  But what about the “Coffee Party” movement which is having a national get-together for coffee day this Saturday to discuss and cooperate on the issues.

I know many in the “Tea Party” movement and I appreciate their frustration with government, particularly at the federal and state levels.  Okay, at the local level too.  But I realize that we need cooperation to make all this work.

Check out this YouTube video about the national coffee party movement and check their website.  I invite your comments.

Is it something that’s happening here in  Lansing and mid-Michigan?  If not, is it something that we need to get started?

I attended to 4-10 tea party rally at the capital this evening. I was extremely disappointed in opposition turnout, which until 7:45 was limited to myself and my boyfriend. We were being heckled constantly. We ended up leaving because of the hostility. There were no numbers to be safe with.

Now I understand that the coffee party is not technically supposed to be the “anti tea party.” But that is really what is needed, a visible anti tea party.

I don’t want to get together with a bunch of other like minded individuals and talk about my feelings. I want the people out there watching tv and undecided about the issues to see that it is okay to be one of us, that there are a lot of us too.

I am really tired of democrat apathy. Sorry to rain on your coffee parade.
