Record number of tax foreclosures, according to Ingham County Treasurer

by Wes Thorp on February 25, 2010

Ingham County is facing a record number of property tax foreclosures this year as property owners are approaching a March 31 deadline to pay the county for their unpaid balances.

In a WILX.com story, Ingham County Treasurer Eric Shertzing said:

There are 792 properties in Ingham County right now that owe over $3 million that need to pay their taxes by March 31, or they will be foreclosed upon.

His report out the same day shows a record number of homes here on the verge of property tax foreclosure — an 80 percent increase over 2008.
