Lansing Sympony Orchestra performs Mozart tonight

by Wes Thorp on February 20, 2010

I’ve been to the symphony once and that was at the Aspen Music Festival and for this guy from Bay City the experience seemed very “high brow.”  But, I’d like to give classical music another try and that’s why the Lansing Symphony Orchestra’s “Evening With Mozart” caught my attention.

It’s tonight at the Wharton Center on the MSU campus and it seems to be geared for the masses rather than those with the finely tuned musical tastes.

Are you going tonight?  Are you thinking about going?  What’s your level of exposure to and knowledge about classical music?  Would you recommend Mozart to a newbie?

Some relevant links:  1) Lansing State Journal story about the concert; 2) Lansing Symphony Orchestra website; 3) Wikipedia article about Mozart. He sounds like a fascinating person; 4) Wikipedia article about his Symphony #41 which will be performed tonight.

Hi Wes, We’d love to know your thoughts on the concert!

Catherine-
My wife and I weren’t able to make the concert, but you’re website and your tweets have our attention. I need to check the future dates and then get our tickets.

As I get older, I have a real desire to expand my musical tastes to classical. This would involve doing some research and better understanding what I’m listening to.

I love listening to violin music while driving and which I have on my iPod touch.

Thanks for asking-

Wes
