What about Lansing's new GM workers from Tennessee?

by Wes Thorp on February 8, 2010

There were a few more smiles in the Lansing area than usual when GM announced that almost 500 workers would move from the former Saturn plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee to the new Delta Township plant.  They were brought north to help make the company’s crossover, the Traverse.

The Lansing State Journal this morning writes about three of those workers and touches on the transition to a new plant.  They left behind family and unsold homes down south and are trying to adapt to their new life here.

The story doesn’t touch on the economic effect to the area of the worker influx.  It’s just a profile of the three workers with important info in the story’s sidebar about the new happenings at the Delta Township plant.
