This news story from WLNS.com-TV 6 in the Lansing (MI) area tells about how Ingham County is struggling to fill budget gaps and how the Ingham County Commission is wringing its hand over what to cut. There’s been news media buzz about the county’s animal control department being cut, as well as severe cuts to the county jail.
Now our local newspaper includes little coverage of these important areas, so our citizenry is left with occasional stories from local television like WLNS. And I’m thankful for that.
It seems like our county commissioners should be out talking to, informing and educating their constituents about how their level of government is being affected by Michigan’s economy which many have said is on life support and is struggling to survive. QUESTION: Can you name your county commissioner and have you ever met that person? How do you contact them?
Check out this county commission page from their website. There’s minimal information about each one and there’s no access to their home or business phone number and there’s no information links where they help their constituents understand.
Anybody agree? Is it time for them to change? I invite you to leave a comment.
