Newly re-elected Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero is close to taking the next step in a bid to win the Democratic nomination for Michigan governor, according to WLNS.com news’ Tim Skubick.
He reports that Bernero will announce the formation of an exploratory committee for a run which will allow him to officially raise money for a campaign.
His move towards a full-fledged run for the state’s top job comes less than two months after being re-elected to the mayor’s job in a city that’s struggling to regain economic stability with the fall of the auto industry.
