Help say "yes" to a new Biggby coffeshop in Logan Square in southwest Lansing

by Wes Thorp on December 21, 2009

Logan Square in Lansing’s (MI) southwest corner and on a main drag  where thousands of cars pass everyday has gotten a case of the dowdies and it needs a Biggby coffeeshop to breath some fresh air into it.

Biggby’s is homegrown and, as a result, it understands our city and provides coffee and coffee drinks and hospitality in a way that connects with Lansing residents.  And the southwest side where Logan Square is located is a residential oasis that’s looking for some commercial spark.  Lansing people and those who drive-by drink coffee and they like to sit down while drinking a Carmel Marvel and visit, do homework and discuss the issues of the day.

We need to get the Biggby ball rolling for Logan Square.  Leave a comment.  Do you drive down MLK and would you stop at a Logan Square Biggby’s?

It would help spark commercial traffic that would make other retailers take notice.  There’s fast food coffeeshop on the street, but it’s not Biggby’s.  Agree? Check out this YouTube video with Biggby founder Bob Fish:

Market forces will determine if Logan Center deserves a Biggby. I applaud the effort, though.

David-I am a strong supporter of the free market on both a theoretical and a practical basis. But, I’m also familiar with local politics and how city hall can pick favorite parts of town to get attention. City Hall’s gaze seems to slide over the economic development of the southwest side. It’s much more than the dowdy West Holmes Road corridor and the very struggling MLK. It needs a shove. Biggby’s would be a start. You’re right demand would drive it. Let’s see if the potential demand is there-Wes

I love Biggby coffee!!!! Please put a Biggby on MLK! So many people drive down MLK on their way to and from work everyday. It would be a perfect location in Lansing for all of those people headed downtown to work. Not only that, but it’s close to 496, so anyone going through Lansing could just jump off the expressway and grab a coffee at Biggby and jump back on. We also have a large retired community in this part of Lansing, and from what I can tell, they love their coffee! This is a great idea and would help boost the economy here on this part of MLK.

I think that putting a Biggby coffee shop in Logan Square Plaza would be a great idea. It would bring many more great businesses to the neighborhood. I really want to see that section of town succeed. That area is really busy and Biggby coffee would do awesome there!

I live near Logan Square, and I am currently a full time student. Biggby Coffee would be a great addition to Logan Square. It would give students, like me, a place to study in a comfy atmosphere while enjoying a great cup of coffee. Whenever my friends and I have nothing to do, we like to go to a coffee shop and just socialize. Biggby also has free wireless internet, which will definitely bring in many more customers. We are in need of a new coffee shop, and Logan Square would be a perfect location for Biggby Coffee!!

Logan Square has a come a long way from what it was. It looks beautiful now that it is renovated, and definitely deserves a Biggby Coffee! We would also like to see a great restaurant come to the neighborhood, such as Applebee’s or Chili’s. I think these additions to southwest Lansing would be a great benefit to everyone!

“This would be great, especially if they offer Wi-Fi to their customers”!!
Anything such as a large chain franchise would be great to get this MLK Blvd lookin’ in better shape!
We also need new businesses in this area that can vacate many of the unused business buildings in the area. Get this town flourishing again!!

I 100% support the placement of a Biggby coffee in the Logan Center. If there is anything I can do to help this to happen PLEASE let me know. Tim Horton’s is right across the way so the market support is proven, we just need to expand the offerings. Thanks to all of the Third Ward folks that are speaking up and out for development for the southwest end of the city!!!

Great idea and I know business would do good there. I currently own a nail salon at the logan Square now (MICHELLE NAILS) and alot of my clients always mention that it would ne nice to have a coffee shop that has WIFI such as Biggby here at Logan Square. Traffic is good and parking is plenty. Whom ever interested to open it there, feel free to contact me, because I can negoticate with the owner of the plaza John for a great deal on rent. Even with free rent to egt things going. John is a great guy, great landlord, and a good friend of mine, so it wouldn’t be a problem. We do whatever we can to make it work for BIGGBY. Lets make it happen. Thanks Tuan(tuan48911@yahoo.com)
