Lansing (MI) City Council-member A'Lynne Robinson makes proposals to control rowdy meetings

by Wes Thorp on June 17, 2009

At Lansing City Council meetings, there has been an increasing tension level between “the regulars” who make public comments every week and the council.

Tempers from the “regulars” have flared and many have been removed by police officers from the audience.

To deal with the growing rowdiness at the meetings, City Council-member A’Lynne Robinson has made a series of proposals which she said she offers after meeting with the police department, the city attorney and others.

The Lansing State Journal this afternoon reports that one of her proposals would separate the council from the public with a plexiglass shield which could not be breached.

Her proposals can be found by clicking on a link on the bottom of her city webpage.
