It’s the story that nobody in Lansing (MI) wants to read, but the Lansing State Journal’s banner story screams “What if GM fails . . . local implications.”
There are many different levels to look at what appears to be probably bankruptcy for General Motors. There’s the employees who work there, those who work for parts suppliers, implications for GM retirees in the area and tax revenues for local units of government.
Don’t expect to find a lot of answers in the story. Even though the newspaper describes the story as in-depth, it is wanting in the area of more complete reporting. The paper is in a fight of its own for economic survival and is operating with a minimum number of reporters.
What other questions about the effects of a GM bankruptcy need to be asked?
